I'd like to put my components "in wall". I'd like to find a tinted glass door in a wooden (or black) frame - doesn't need to be custom, some standard size from a kitchen cabinet should work, but in any case, I can make the hole in the wall fit the door. Problem is I can't find such a thing. I can find doors for the kitchen but the not with tinted glass. Browsing the forum I found a place that will make tinted, temperd glass (should be perfect) but I can't find an empty door frame.

Any suggestions where I can find a door with the frame and tinted glass? Failing that where I can find the door with the frame and no glass?

I know I could get the door with clear glass and just replace it but if I could find something without the glass or with the proper glass that would be ideal.

Thanks,

Brian

Thanks LeBon - do you happen to have a link to the one you used? I'm not able to find just the doors, but plexiglass is a good option I hadn't thought of...

A local cabinet shop or woodworker could easily knock out a door frame for you. I doubt it would be expensive.

Try Ikea kitchen cabinet doors. Some of the glass ones may be in stock. You'll have to do the tint yourself with tint film. The door would probably be cheaper than a cabinet guy, unless he has a mistake door or leftover sitting around.

There is a mind-boggling variety of decorative window films available these days. Take a look here: http://www.decorativefilm.com/ . It might be cool to have a glass door with a colored window film that matches the wall color!

Thanks folks - I've been searching a bit more today and it looks like custom might be the way I need to go... but I'll probably run to a big box store to see what the standard doors might look like with the availability of any type of film I can possibly imagine

LeBon - the folks at middle atlantic said that their doors really wouldn't work for me since they are meant to be used on a metal frame and wouldn't work well on the millwork. Are you using yours on a custom cabinet, a rack? or something else? How did you mount your door?
