I want and can't find what I've described in the title. I predict if what I seek ever does appear commercially it will be in the form of a HDMI 1.3 pre/pro, but I am willing to be flexible to a certain extent if it gets me what I need without too big an expense.

I like the idea of electrically isolated analog outs since it helps me to eliminate ground loops that appear whenever I add in the video sources. I will be running dedicated power lines for my gear. The main reason I am backed into this corner is my high powered monoblock front channels at 1200W each but my surround channels need power too since they are each 300W channels.

I have found that keeping the DVR/PS3/HTPC/HDTV noise ring of death electrically isolated from my sound system has worked wonders for my sound in the form of hum elimination and general hash noise elimination.

Right now I am accomplishing the needed isolation through toslink optical connections between my sources and the analog gear but I have no HD audio support at this point and would like to upgrade.

I am pretty much willing to wait for whatever I need if necessary since I am pleased with what I have now. However I would like to start the planning for an upgrade that gets me to the new standards and makes sense for my system.

Something is very amiss with your premise wiring if all of those devices are introducing hum. You should first consult with an electrician before throwing money at this problem in the form of equipment.

Nah nothing is wrong. It is the same ground loop problem all who connect cable TV into their sound system experience. It is caused by finite earth impedance between the cable companies earth reference and the power service entrance earth. Very common and well defined actually.

Maybe my post is confusing though. The reason the ground loop shows up when any of THOSE particular components is added inis the fact they all share a ground. As I said the ground loop is being broken now I just need a solution for the future.

Do you have an answer to the question I asked?

But this is cured by having the cable company resituate their ground and connect it to the power entrance ground. It took some convincing by me but they ultimately agreed to do it. It took all of 10 minutes and the problem is gone forever.

BTW, I do not know of any electrically isolated analog inputs unless you can get by with XLR/BAL connections.

If I read your question correctly, you just need preamp outs so you can use those massive monoblocks (with the added benefit of removing hum).

The new Onkyo receivers may fit the bill. Starting at the 805, 875 and 905. Not sure if the 705 has preamp outs. I use outboard power amps (mostly because I have outboard EQs for each channel) with recievers with great success. Yeah, so you get some power amps you really don't need. Oh well. In 5 years you can send it to the garage and keep your amps in the HT.

Awesome responses everybody. Now I have some research of components to do. Thanks for all the great ideas folks.

Kal,

I agree that your solution is the ideal. Maybe I could convince the cable co to do it right on the grounds of it being somewhat of a lightning hazard. It is a bit of a pain however since the cable entrance was wired through the front of the house while service entrance is at the rear of the house. That was how it was when I moved in, but to me the extra work would be worth it. Maybe drive a couple more ground rods while I'm at it.

So balanced cures this? I was wondering if that was the case but don't really know much about the pro type gear. That might actually be a good way to go since my amps will take balanced too. The problem I have right now is my single ended pre outs but if I were to upgrade......wheels are turning.

I wouldn't count on it. In theory, if only the two signal lines are connected and the shield is not, it might work. Frankly, the best bet is to (1) fix the grounds or (5) use a ground loop isolator on the cable input.
