Hi.

The Denon literature specs on AVR 3803 and AVR 2803 calls for 1.2V/15 kOhms and 1.2V/10kOhms respectively at the Preamp out.

My Hafler Power amps need 1.4V RMS for full output.

My Adcom GFA5800 does not mention it and neither my Carvers M1.0t but I suspect these two need around 1.5V RMS for full output.

1 - What will happen if I use one of these Denons as Preamp.

2 - Is the Denon Speck 1.2V RMS or Peak?

3 - what percentage of full output will an arrangement like that give me?

Thanks for any feedback.

1. In my opinion, you'll never miss the few 10ths of a volt.

2. Only they know.

3. What percentage of 1.4 is 1.2?

Don't sweat it. It'll work fine.

Thanks Larry.

With all the power I have, I will settle for 80% (or 83.3% since I have 125 volts at home).

Horace: You won't have any problems if you're not having them with the receivers now (IOW, really lower sensitivity speakers.) I've ran various Denon receivers with Adcom, Bryston and Carver amps. Volume level has never been an issue...

Thanks Han.

Presently my preamp is an old Sony 1000ESD, no 5.1 yet, just old surround.

Should buy a decent receiver or a new pream this year.

Regards
