Been lurking for a while and think I could be making a move soon on a PA-120.

Had seen items in this thread about $218 shipped and other scintillating deals...but a casual web search is not turning them up.

I'm finding $299 plus shipping.

Got it, love it... Greggr, get it!

Use the best offer (or something like that), with accoustic design. I offered a little too low but Mike offered $219 or thereabouts inclusive of shipping. Came via UPS within 8 days or so, not a scratch. Mike was easy and pleasant to deal with.

Love my new Sub!

Hope this isn't a misplaced plea for help, but...

Fuse is fine, without it the device doesn't power on.

The IN connector on my PA-120 sub has been coming off when I remove the cable running from the AVR. While this hasn't been a huge problem, just an annoyance, now it seems to have worsened to the point where no signal goes from the cable to the sub.

The signal exists, works to a different sub. When the sub is turned plugged in and placed in STANDBY, the light sometimes stays red until I touch the metal connector inside with the cable from the AVR. It then goes green, but no sound is produced. Sub produces no sound in ON or STANDBY.

I removed the plate off the back, but it appears this connection point is covered by a glued foam that I'd rather not remove just yet. I also noticed someone else had this problem earlier in the thread, but didn't get an answer.

Edit: I'm now connecting the line from the AVR to the actual solder point on the back of the circuit board to which the IN port is connected. When in stand by, the red light turns green when I touch it, but no sound is produced.

Edit2: I'm now running a line from my AVR into the PA 120, then daisy-chaining a line to a second sub. The PA-120 does not produce sound, does light up green in standby, and the second sub *does* produce sound. What is preventing the signal from the IN on the PA-120 from firing the sub?

Edit3: Elsewhere in the thread points to amp issues. I didn't purchase through PA but a seller on Ebay, so I doubt I'd be entitled to any type of assistance in the way of a new amp. Will call tomorrow and see what happens.

Any ideas? Advice? Thoughts?

Thanks,

Same thing has happened to me

I got a question about this sub with music. I have a energy s10.3 that is great for music but just to small for my room so I'm thinking of adding one of these to help out. I listen to a lot of rock and metal with a lot of double bass drum and the energy keeps up great. I was going to get the bic pl200 but I hear it's not all that great with music. So does this sub keep up with faster music ok,or sound like one continuous bass note? Thanks for any help

I have not owed the 120 but, my PA 150 was great with music and movies. I can't imagine and smaller sub not being as quick and detailed. The Premiere Acoustic PA 150 is still one of the best subs I have ever owned and I have owned subs from 8 in to 18 in.

Thanks for the help. That's what I was hoping to hear. Now im leaning towards the pa 150 because my room has vaulted ceilings and openings everywhere. Not sure what would work better, one big sub or two smaller ones. Wife says I have to sell the energy if i want the 150. Thank you for the help

Wow, same thing happened to me last year. Was unplugging a Monoprice RCA cable and the connector broke off the amp. Never bothered to replace it since it was a backup. Anyone ever get this fixed or know how it can be fixed? I'll be sending an email as well.

I just shoved it back in by hand, and no..... there's no sexual innuendo there

Yeah that worked fine for maybe a year or so, but doing that stopped working last year. Eric from Sound Distributors told me that the amp would need to be replaced but I'll see what else can be done.

Just ordered a Premier Acoustic PA-120 from eBay, picked up an open box "unused" for $135 shipped. It sounds like I'm in for a treat! And the piano black will match my Polk TL speakers excellent. This thread has been awesome.

So this is still considered a decent low budget sub? There is someone selling one on craigslist for $125 in my area ... doesn't have it set up to demo though, so I'd have to lug over my own receiver and source ...
