There seems to be a problem in Windows Media Center 7 that causes tv shows on premium channels to pause or skip every five seconds or so. This is happening to me on both live tv and recorded tv.


Does anyone know of a fix yet? I tried un/reinstalling PlayReady and that helped nothing. My drivers are already updated to the latest versions as well.


I'm getting pretty tired of WMC to be honest. If this isn't fixed somehow, it's being removed from my system.

I haven't had that problem. Are you running x64 or x86? Have you installed any codec packs that may have messed around with essential files for live tv? What tuner do you have? (I'm running the ATI digital cable tuner.)

I'm running x64, only using the default Windows 7 codecs with a Hauppauge HVR-1600 and a Hauppauge HVR-1850.


Other people on different forums claim this is something that's been happening since the release candidate.


This only happens on protected channels like Encore. All other channels are unaffected.

This sounds like the Playready bug. Just google "playready stutter" and you'll get tons of hits.

Thanks, that was a good link. It's crap like this that makes me want to can WMC.


I'll go ahead and see if I can gather a fix to this.
