I just learned through a projector company i was getting a quote from, that Panasonic had a price drop on both the 75U and 711XU that took effect May 1st.

So if you're about to pull the trigger, make sure your quote gets refreshed as of May 1st.

Quotes I've gotten are $2200 for the 75U and the 711XU at $2800! You may be able to find even better pricing by checking around.

HTCrazy,

I've also received quotes for $2200 for the 75u. As soon as I find one for my strike price of $2000 even, I'm going for it. Maybe we can arrange a powerbuy of TWO units, and get a discount ;)

Robertmee,

I think I'm still leaning towards the 711XU (but secretly pining for the WXGA announcement). It shouldn't be hard to russle up other 75U buyers on the board without having to resort to notorious fence sitters like myself. :D

Why the 711 over the 75? After reading many threads and reviews, I thought the consensus was that the extra $$$ wasn't worth it for a bit of extra lumens....At least for a light controlled room.

hi

on 04\\30\\02 Tuesday.i purchase 75u.

this is story of $2200 pt-lc 75u.

after i`ve read a few threads i was going 711xu , but i changed my mind to 75u. not to pay extra$$$ for more light. i need to low light to get good black any way. extra light i think its for presentation which they don't use too much black . we need more black for movies.

any way . i called one site i asked sales person about 75u. and how much

lower price i could get it, he told how much i want to pay.

i said $2100,

he said his boss went out for lunch.he will tell him the price and give me call back. he added that his boss may go for that price. because its end of the month. i said OK . i was thinking end of the month what this got to do with projectors. oh well.

its like any business you need to meet certain level of gross sales. so if they didn't make enough sales whole month. its your chance to buy it cheap the last two days of the month.

he called back said he will sell it for $2300. i said i`ll think about. click.

i called another site. i said to sales person i need projector. he said how much you willing to spend.

i said i need 75u for $ 2200.

i hear him going uummm.

30 second silence.

he said OK.only if you gonna buy it now.

so i jumped on .

sale was done. $2200

after i hung up i said to myself i should told him $2100.

in my mind oh come on don`t be greedy. you got the best price on the net . you should be happy.

so i`m happy.

its coming Tuesday UPS . i know the driver morning stops i`ll be waiting for him at his lunch spot. 12:15 pm.

i can`t wait.

i don`t think panasonic going down on prices. cause they presenting th100 this summer in US. witch has less specs than 75u. so 75u and 711xu is still and will be at that price for long time. i hope panasonic go down on prices cause i wanna buy 2 extra bulb for pj:D :D :D

good luck every one

Wow- if you bought this in April it should be even cheaper today since Panasonic had their price drop on May 1st. I wonder if a $2000 75U is possible?

Is there anything about the 75u that is not as good as the ae100? Does the 75u beat the ae100 in every way?

I paid 2346 shipped. Yah, I'm sure these things could down in price and they always do, but regardless they are still a pretty good price. Now if it would only show up...

I think you will find that the 711 has a much better scaler/line doubler than the 75U - far less jaggies etc.

Also the 75U has .7" panels and the 711 has .9" but what exactly is the bonus here I don't know.

The 711XU is made in Japan, the 75U is (AFAIK) made in China. Not that that counts for much these days - my 711XU is in dry dock after just two months use - the candle keeps going out and I have 'the red led of death' that a lot of AE100 owners are getting....

Smaller panels are usually newer technology. Larger panels have an inherent advantage in ability to produce blacks. Not that any LCD pj has great blacks AND great shadow detail, but larger panels help.
