This may be a dumb question, but ...

Here's my deal: I currently have a single, old RCA receiver that D* refers to as my "primary" receiver. I have an HD TiVo on order, and when that arrives, I would like to make that my "primary" receiver, and mirror the service onto the RCA.

Does it make any difference to D* which receiver is the "primary," and if so, do they allow you to decide yourself which one it will be? I realize that this is more of a "name game" than anything else, but at some point I will probably replace that RCA with an SD TiVo, and it seemed like that might be easier to do if it was a mirrored receiver, rather than the primary.

It doesn't matter. Just deactivate that old one when you want and activate a new receiver when you want. "Primary" and "secondary" have no real meaning after you have fulfilled your initial commitment.

The D* system auto-defaults the lowest card number as the primary reciever. So on the screen when there listed chronologically the primary is on top... Like Scooper said, it really doesnt matter.... at all! =)

When I orderd my HDVR2 last year, I made it my primary receiver and my RCA (circa October 2000) my secondary receiver.

You can go online and change the status and location of the receivers at will.

So basically, it doesn't really matter!!!

Hey, thanks for the info. Since I only have one receiver right now, I was not aware that this could be "edited" via the web site. Natually, I would prefer to interact with a screen rather than a D* CSR. :)

When I used the Mover's Program last year, D* gave me a new Hughes multi-sat receiver to replace my old Sony Sat-B2 (single sat). I've only ever had one receiver activated at a time, but the Hughes has always shown up as 'mirrored' on the website. It doesn't make any difference, afaict.
