On the "Sharing" tab, in Win XP, there is a faded check box, which cannot be selected, which could make a folder private. The HELP file alludes to this only being possible for "My Documents" type folders. Is it possible to make other folders private, hidden, or password protected?

Yes this can be done. Are you using Windows XP Professional or Home Edition. I don't recall if Home Edition lets you do this in the GUI or not. If you have XP Professional and are using NTFS for the file system, you can restrict access to folders. Go to Tools/Folder Options/View. Go to the bottom of the list and unselect simple file sharing. This will give you the Security Tab where you can modify NTFS permissions.

My win XP pro in danish does not have the option "simple file sharing".

Is it possible that this only appears in the UK/US version?

Or is it because I am set to "in a workgroup" and not "part of a domain"?

Or is it something else.....

In the danish version it's at the top of Tools/Folder Options/View.
