I did several searches and was unsuccessful getting any results, so I'm asking the question in the hope of not offending anybody who's been part of a similar thread in the past-


I'm concerned about the possibility of burn-in of the ESPNHD ticker.... I own a RPTV that's had the contrast and brightness adjusted down(as all should). I normally watch ESPNHD for a couple of hours a day..... double that on Sunday mornings. The ESPN logo in it is static, and white.


What are your opinions on the ticker and the potential for burn in? It's always running, other than the commercials. Is that enough of a change to eliminate the possibility?

If your set is calibrated properly you have very little chance of burn in unless you let a ticker run 24 hours a day for an extended period of time.


As far as the ticker goes, some hate it and some don't mind it being there. It's been discussed many times in the past. Especially when ESPN HD went live last year.

The ESPN logo in white at the far right of the bottom line{ticker} has caused burn in on my Panny 53" rptv. Yes I had the contrast at 50% or less, no we weren't watching it all day either!


Beware, it can happen!


The bottom line is a pain in the arse, and has no place on an HD channel !

how much were you watching?? How many hours per day?


I hate to hear that about your set..... and I agree that the bottom line needs to go!

watching a couple of few hours in the morning and various other times. The burn in is very faint, but still, it doesn't belong on an HD broadcast except for maybe 2-3 minutes at a time every hour like they used to. What was wrong with that? It's also annoying as hell to be watching a sporting event and that damn thing is constantly running over and over and over and over...
