Anyone else having trouble finding a LMP-H180 lamp for the Sony VPL-HS20? Sony doesn't sell them any more. Sellers seem to have bad quality copies. First one I ordered was DOA. Second one emits a burning smell. Is there any seller with a good, reliable LMP-H180?

The problem is that many manufacturers stop supporting projector bulbs beyond 8-10 years and if you find an OEM lamp assembly it will be with a vendor who still has a few in stock. And if they still have it in stock it's because they are not widely known. One such company is Mendtronix who claims to have the assembly in stock for $389.

They also sell their own 'house brand' version for $225.

Or you may want to explore the option getting an authentic Philips bulb in an after-market assembly like the one listed on Amazon by Lamp Monsters for $249.

These are fairly expensive options for such an old projector and you may have to ask yourself whether putting that money toward a new projector is a better idea.

Take several pictures of the lamp in and out of its cage and post them it along with the lamps dimensions.

Is the lamp completely sealed ?

Does it rear vent?

Are there air slots behind the front Glass?

what does it say on the lamp itself?

The folks here should be able to point you to an OEM Lamp that will be much cheaper and of a better quality.
