okay, this is kind of a SSDD thing (same s*&t different day), but it has me stymied...
I have 3 Replays running in the house...a Showstopper, an RTV3030 and a Replay5xxx series. Only the RTV3030 is pitching a fit.
This unit has an upgraded HDD (maxtor) in it, and it seems like I had set the bit to keep it from whining about being out of memory, but still, I get that failure a LOT. Typically, though, the box will whine 2 to 4 days out of the week, but eventually connect and download the channel guide...until now. Right now my channel information is blank...and it's kind of pissing me off.
The "error messages" in the Messages menu alternate between being out of memory and some kind of issue about information/data not being available on the server??? (that data not available thing is new this month)
I've tried net connect...and it connects, gets to between 50% - 90% of combining data and then craps out with "There was a problem transferring information from the ReplayTV Service. Your ReplayTV will try again later"....over and over, I get that message...but only during net connect...any other method ends with "out of memory"
Now, when I go into Setup>Change Dialing & Input Settings, it says "Some dialing and input information has changed or is no longer available. Please update all dialing and input settings". Great, I go through the whole freaking process, and if I select the local "digital" line up, it takes 30-60 minutes to download the channel info and then craps out with "out of memory". I try the non-digital lineup (since I can't get a freaking IR Blaster to work with the damnable box Comcast provided....different thread), and it goes faster, but results in the same crap..."out of memory". Net result, no change possible, not channel guide downloaded...well, it SAYS it's downloaded...but it can't seem to do much with the file due to memory..or whatever is bugging it...
Now, let's point out the fact that I have cycled power a few times...I have yanked the plug on the beast and let it sit, etc. etc....but still "out of memory", ad nauseum. 243-Zones is the only thing that will seem to at least get to the point of combining data..but then "an error occurred" (sure this OS wasn't written my MS??). I don't know why net connect gets "an error transferring" data from ReplayTV..that has me completely lost.
It is connecting to ReplayTV (so the MODEM and dial in# are good). It is downloading the files (so the connection is good). It just can't seem to finish the job.... While I've been typing this, it just tried to connect on its own...got to the point of combining data and crapped out with the error transferring information from the ReplayTV service again....
If it means anything to anyone (not me), the memmeter says 098k/178k. Any use?
So, now the box is nothing but a player for the shows I have recorded...can't get a channel guide...can't do s&^t....so, what's next?
I would LOVE to get through the setup and have it freaking connect and pull down all of the shows and be happy with all its settings...you know..like it is supposed to...but this freaking out of memory thing has me hamstrung. Do I have to put yet another HDD in this damned box and stack yet another "old" drive to the side until I "have the time" to do something about it? I don't use my various computers with the Replay...I understand I am doubtlessly leaving a lot of functionality behind, but really, I just need it to record, so I can watch shows on my schedule. I am out of the country a lot, and I just don't have the time for this crap.
okay...rant over
So...gurus of the AVS Forum...what next?
thx,
David.
