New to the forum. Someone recommended I check here for answers to my problem, so here I am.

Anyways, I bought a Mitsu DLP used from a friend, and it worked quite well for a while. A few dead pixels, but not too hard to fix with a new DLP chip. That's not my problem though. As of lately, the screen has started flickering after running for probably not more than 30 minutes, and then the screen shuts off. I feel as though it's a heating issue, since the bulb is relatively new, and after the screen shuts off and the red lamp LED comes on the front. I HAVE checked for airflow blockage and can't find anything. The fans seems to run fine, though not at the fastest RPM. Maybe a temp sensor issue? I have no idea. I know little about T.V repairs. Any help would be fantastic.

Also, I apologize if there was already a thread for this! Forgive me! :)

Relatively new bulb? If you bought a cheap, OEM-compatible type, that may be your problem.

Well it does resemble an Osram P-VIP bulb. Which is definitely one of those offbrands. Thinking maybe the Shopjimmy recommended replacement bulb would fix this?

Like I said, I'm pretty green to T.V repairs. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Shopjimmy has a good reputation, so I'd say it's a good bet.

Their are many posts in the forums about problems with aftermarket lamps. The lamps are designed to tight specifications for each chassis model, that is why you are getting the Red Light. The wrong lamp can even damage your TV, so any perceived savings on aftermarket can cost big in the long run.

I would only recommend buying direct from Mitsubishi.
