I wondering if anyone has seen this before.

I have a Denon 2900 Modified from MSB with SDI. I also have a HD Leeza feeding a Infocus 777 with DVI. I think I have the Scaler set up properly @ [email protected]

With the DVD hooked up this way the picture is offset vertically too high. I have tried to use the "R2" function to manually push the picture back down, but I can't move it far enough. Not only that, but the picture looks really lousy. There is artifacts and jumpy lines on anything that is small and panning on the screen.

I have tried hooking it up with component with success. So I'm pretty sure the DVD player is fine. I have also tried reversing the polarity on the scaler.

I'm concerned that the MSB mod is not compatible with the Leeza. I called them before I purchased to confirm that it should work. But there is other companies, like PMSvideo, that ask specifically if you are using a Leeza. Why is that?

I called Key Digital and MSB on this. No one could give me and answer on this, I'm hoping someone here can.

Thanks

I know that the Pixel Magic folks had some compatibility issues with the HD LEEZA's SDI. Apparently, it is very sensitive to sync signals on the SDI wire. Mine works perfectly well, but it's with a KDS modded player. It could very well be a compatibility issue.

My Denon 3300 was modded by Immersive a couple of years back and it works fine with both Digital Leeza and HD Leeza.

I'm a bit confused, are you saying when the HDL is connected to the projector via component and the DVD player connected to the HDL via SDI the picture is OK then only when you connect the HDL to the projector via DVI (and the DVD is still SDI) that the picture is bad. Or are you saying in all cases the HDL is connected via DVI and the difference is the DVD player is connected either with SDI (BAD) or component (good) ?

The HDL was always connected with DVI. I switched the SDI to Compotent on the DVD and the Results were good.

I'm using a >6ft RG6 cable with BNC ends on it, I have also tried a digital coaxial cable as well.

Does anyone have a good caontact at Leeza?

I am having a similar problem. I just received my modified 2900 from PMS. I sent it to them because when I tried to install myself I noted a problem with green and black horizontal lines at the bottom of the image. Unfortunately, there has been no improvement with their installation of the SDI board. The very bottom of the image still has the green and black lines. The rest of the picture looks great. I am running RGBHV out of the HD Leeza into my projector (G-90). The other inputs to the HD Leeza look fine.

I can't reach anybody in technical support to talk to either at KDS or PMS. It makes me not want to do business with companies that won't answer their phones (KDS) or provide phone numbers to call (PMS).

Ofer, my picture looked great with the KDS supplied player. It stopped working (the famed Panasonic HO7 error) and KDS was less than helpful in recommending a source for an HD Leeza compatible player. They would not recommend a vendor - simply referred me to AVS (very helpful - huh).

This is unfortunate, because I heard the opposite about KDS Support. I'm experiencing the same problem.

Does anyone have a 2900 mod hooked up to a Leeza. Better yet one mod'ed from PMS or MSB? MSB said they have done a ton of them.

Thanks

Kevin,

Strange. Are you sure you told PMS that the modded player is for an HD LEEZA?! They did have a problem with HD LEEZA support, but they corrected it a while back.

However, that required some changes to the mod, so not all mods are 100% HDL compatible!

Ofer,

Yes, I did tell them. PMS has contacted me by email. It was definitely supposed to be the mod for the HD Leeza. Atman says he does not think it is the sync issue although the problem seems similar to what was described my Mark Haflich in a prior thread earlier this year. He stated - "Also the problem was not that the machine would not link up. It did but there were colored lines at the picture bottom." .

I cannot adjust the scaler to eliminate the bottom of the image. I am sure I can do it with the projector, but at the cost of losing lines of resolution with sources run through my other HD Leeza inputs.

If you still have the Panasonic and want to get it working again, look for Sango on the DVD Hardware forum. He may be able to fix it for you. There is also someone else that you may be able to ask about repairs, but I can't remember his name. Check out the most recent thread in the DVD Hardware forum about Panasonic's latest/newest firmware updates for options.

I had a similar problem when I started using my Proceed PMDT. I was able to correct the problem because I am using a CRT and was able to do some blanking to get rid of problems. Luckily they did not interfer with the picture dimensions. The Panasonic that came with the HDLeexa did not have these problems.

This may not help folks with current mod issues. I did get a 5900 moded by JVB Digital along with a region free change and the player has worked fine with the HD Leeza.

JVB does ask what scaler will be used with the player which may be a clue to their ability to get the two devices to work together.

Looks like MSB my be having problems with their mod working with the Leeza. Does anyone have an MSB modded DVD working with the Leeza?

Thanks

I have a Denon 2900 that was modded by JVB digital. Ironic..... I am about to call them with my complaints, but I figured I check here first. The image is shifted too high to correct fully (sync change doesn't help). As of late I am getting digital banding near the top. It corrects itself when I restart the player. What has bothered me the most though is the fact that it doesn't look any where near as good as my old KDS modded RP-62. Are they using inferior boards? Should I send it back?

This is exactly what is happening to me. Poor Picture Quality and Image is too high. Mine was modded by MSB, I did call JVB today. They said that they used to have problems with the Leeza working, but they have it figured out now.

How long have you had their mod? They made it sound like this was somewhat recent.

DOA,

I had the mod done on July 15th 2004. I am calling them tomorrow thanks to your input. Sounds like I had something done wrong. I hope its true that it was "somewhat recently" corrected!?

PS- Can you describe what differences you have seen in picture quality or why the image looks bad?

Picture Quality that I experienced.

I could tell I was getting a Digital signal. It was very clean looking when the image was relatively still. Colors looked great, Blacks looked good. But the pixelizing that I saw in motion was awful.

The scene that I notice it the worst was in Patriot. The chapter right after the ambush scene. It starts off with a large cannon shot and explosion and pans up to see a battle field. When you get a good look at the troops in the distance, they looked like a bunch of flashing stars. Lots of movement and jitters.

The green bar at the bottom of the image has to do with the HDL needing a hardware up-grade. I am having the same green bar using the SDI out of my Theta Compli into the HDL and sending it to an InFocus Screen Play 777.

They said it has to do with the HDL not being able to adjust the video signal to shift this green bar out of the picture and the only way this can be solved is with a hardware up-grade and I think there is some software too.
