I'm hoping this is a problem with my own stupidity, rather than the unit. Just got it today, and hooked it up. BD DVD player and FIOS DVR connected to CT500 with HDMI cables, and the Sony connected to a panasonic plasma with an HDMI cable. The DVD player works well, and the sound is impressive. When I try and switch over to the FIOS STB, using the Sony menu, I don't get any picture or audio.

Can't think what I'm doing wrong, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Thanks

Using the GUI menu - when I play the DVD player, everything is fine. When I switch to the STB/CATV input, I get a dark screen - no audio or video. I can also use the GUI menu to make adjustments, etc.

I can take the same HDMI cable that's hooked up to the FIOS box and plug it directly into my TV rather than the Sony CT500. Everything is fine then, I get sound and picture, so it doesn't seem to be the cable. I have the same type of HDMI cables for both hookups, so I don't think it's the type of cable either.

I ended up shipping the unit back to Amazon today, and they are shipping out a replacement. Hoping everything goes well. Hookup seems like it should be pretty easy, even for the non-techie like me. We'll see what happens.

It seems like the HDMI ports on some of these are not working correctly. My first one had a flaky HDMI out port but the other ones worked correctly. My second one had a sub issue but I think it was damaged during shipping. I don't know if Sony rushed these out but there have been quite a few posts about issues so far. I know this website is a small sample of sales but it's still quite alarming considering there were very few posts from users having problems with the CT100. Oh well hopefully it's just a fluke as I currently love my CT500. I do hope it lasts a long time without any issues though

Thanks, YOTR. I've been reading the boards and was a little worried, that's why I ordered through Amazon. My new unit is scheduled to arrive next Tues. Hope it's a winner, because it was a lot of fun watching a DVD (Gladiator) with the Sony Soundbar. I want something set up before football season begins. I'll let y'all know what happens with the new unit.

Has anyone else experience a muting issue with the HT-CT500? Sometime when I turn the unit on it refuses to come off mute (if you try, you'll hear sound for a second, but then it will go right back to muting). If I turn the unit off (standby) and then back on it goes away. This has happened quite a few times so far.

Anyone else?
