My room design is to put the TV & three front speakers on the front wall. The back wall put the two back speakers. The right wall, no problem, the right surround sound.
This leaves a big problem though. My left/right walls are 10' 3". With Surround Sound, the 4th and 5th speakers are suppose to go BESIDE the listening point. This normally wouldn't be a problem, but 2/3rds of my wall take up pictures, wall-plaques, and a themed design that include drapery about 2 feet from the ceiling.
I do not want to compromise the drapery that surrounds the room, because it is very important to the room's theme. The problem is positioning the left side-speaker. From the beginning of the left wall, till 2/3rds of it (about 6 feet out of 10) is the important part for the drapery and pictures. After 6 feet there is a door (normal size closet door) and then a bit more than 2 feet till the corner connects to the front wall. The listening point is across from the picture area. It's pretty much exactly in the middle of the 6 FT.

!!!'s are candles or smaller pictures.
So far, all I can think of is to put the speaker on the ceiling pointing towards the listening point (and doing the same for the right wall speaker) OR doing this...

If I do that though, it will distract from the picture/drapery theme. I can't put the speaker above the door, because it would be behind drapery and sound crappy, right?
Any suggestions of where I could place them without it interfering with the 6 FT before the door? I thought of maybe on the door, but that would be way too distracting and weird. I also thought of, instead of ceiling mounts, having speaker stands so they are closer to the floor than the ceiling (less distracting and also moveable.)
Any ideas? It feels like I can't even have a left speaker because of the 6 ft of theme and the annoying closet door!!! I thought of having them on the last 2 ft of the left wall, but wouldn't that put them as front-speakers, not really side-speakers?
I want the full effects of 7.1 surround sound, and I heard that the 4th and 5th side-speakers are to be put BESIDE the listening point, not infront or behind. I was also told that the speaker would be majorly effected by being behind velvet drapery.
HELP! I just don't know what to do!
