I really like my harmon kardon 247......but last night it out of the blue sparked and was on fire for like 3 seconds...only a very smal part like a match would be lit.......everything still works perfectly but now im afraid it could start a fire someday????


what would be a comparable receiver or a BETTER one thats under $500......


you would be worried too right?

Why don't you contact HK and get warranty service. They have excellent service and you have 2 year warranty. Nothing in that price range will match HK sound quality. Believe me I tried denon, Onkyo and HK. HK blew the others away.

I would not use the receiver without having H/K check it out. If it is under warranty they will either fix it or replace it with a newer model. The new 254 is just out and getting nice reviews, so that would be a logical replacement.

I got it at a garage sale about 3-4 months ago, it has been working perfectly...so i dont have any type of receipt so i wouldnt have a warrenty.
