Have you checked the local reception forums for a thread for your area to see if anyone else is having problems with that channel? Erratic signal strength can be a sign of multipath also, anything new around you like a large building that could be bouncing signals back towards you?

Problem with my Hughes HTL-HD
My Directv Hughes HTL-HD seems to have developed a problem locking onto Madison Wisconsin's ABC-HD channel 27-1 (digital channel 26-1). The reported signal strength is very erratic and mostly tells me there is "No Signal". All other HD channels are coming in strong and clear. I live in the middle of Madison and the TV tower is 8 miles away. The problem has just started about a month ago after more then a year of no problems. Others in my area have not noticed a problem picking up 27-1.
Is there a chance my HD receiver is malfunctioning on just this one channel? If so, what can I do about it?
