Problem with Plasma?

I have a Pioneer PDP-4214. I have calibrated both Component and HDMI as good as I am going to get without a professional calibration. I just replaced my 942 satellite receiver with the new 622 DISH receiver. Both receivers are showing problems I will mention in a second and am having a hard time figuring out if it is the TV that has a problem or if DISH receivers just aren't that great. The problem is with 720p over component. When the satellite receiver is set to 720p and only when networks are broadcasting in 720p (ABC/ESPN & FOX) the picture will randomly go black for a couple of seconds and there is some glitching/jerking going on in the picture where there is data in the screen like game scores or the scrolling ticker on sporting events. When there is nothing on the screen it is just fine. If I stretch, zoom or change to 1080i the problem goes away. HDMI has no problems. I prefer component on my set and wish to use it but can't if I wish to use 720p for 720p broadcasts. Any clues why 720p isn't working correctly over component? I've tried different component cables, and both component inputs on the set. no fix.

BTW, the TV doesn't have aspect ratio options 720/1080, etc.. but it does have a built in tuner and when watching ABC/FOX sporting events everything is fine.

Very confusing.
