Have been trying to get my HTPC happy with my 980; have all the standard res things going, am now ready to mess with timings, porches, etc. So went to Entech, downloaded powerstrip demo, and upon installing and initializing it, got the message "Trial period has expired - please contact Entech to register."

Does anyone have any idea how to get the dang program to work for at least a week of the ostensible 30 day trial period? If it works, does the job, will be most happy to pay for the sucker, but would like to see if it does indeed play well in my box before I shell out the money. (yeah, 30 bucks won't kill me, but it would also buy the Eagles Farewell Concert from Melbourne, and I KNOW that is cool. )

TIA for any help with this stupid thing. Ya know, there are days when I am actually tempted to just buy a crappy bulb unit and bag the whole thing...

I used to have fun with my pc, wading thru command line dos, etc, all that stuff, but now I am pretty spoiled by plug and play. Every now and then I would like something connected to my crt to work in that fashion. Enough whining - if you can help, thanks.

I have down loaded power strip a couple of times on different computers. They are still running , they never ran out , all I find is that once you have it for a month you have to wait for 30 seconds before it will run. Maybe you are downloading the wrong version or from the wrong site?

Also you should ask this question in the HTPC forum, you will have better luck there.

I tried there first, but got no response - I'm definitely not a regular there. That's bizarre, that yours never stopped; I get the error, and then it closes itself. Downloaded from the Entech site. After that didnt' work, also tried a slightly older version from ZDnet. still no joy.

Guess I can try emailing Entech; if anything works, will let you know. Ta

Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago for the 1st time ever using Powerstrip. I 1st used Windows restore to a previosu setup I knew was good, but after 3 days it did it again. Nothing else for it but to buy a copy, which fixed the problem.

I imagine those dishonest folk might download a keygen & do that instead, but that would be just plain bad, but I'm sure that would also cure your ills as well;)

Hey - I wouldn't do that. I already have one of those magic boxes; don't want to further spoil my karma ;)

Just a quick update - I CAN load and run the old version, 2.73. However, I only find fixed frequencys with that version (48, 60, 70,70, etc) so AFAIK, that won't do anything that my video card can't do.

I just can't get the fancy new version (3.67 or something) to run. Oh well. I don't think I have ever seen judder anyway, and I sure don't want to start. :)
