Everyone,

I am at my wits end trying to get HDTV to show up. Here is my set up:

- Time Warner Cable Austin (Digital Package)

- Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3100HD.

- Sharp 55R-WP4H

The problem I am having is that I get no picture (black screen) when

viewing HDTV channels throught the component YPbPr inputs.

Things I have tried and know:

1. The component cables are set up correctly. (I have double checked 100

times).

2. I get no picture through the component cables. Even SDTV channels

don't show up.

3. I get sound for both SDTV and HDTV.

4. I read only that the 3100HD up converts all signals to 1080i, which

looks crappy for SDTV. So I have hooked up S-Video for SDTV. This works

fine, and I plan on using this method for SDTV while switching inputs to

component for HDTV.

5. Input 4 is my HD component inputs for the tv. It is definately YPbPr

and not RBG. The manual says so as does the back of the tv.

6. Input 4 has 3 menu settings: Auto, Video, and HDTV/DVD. I have made

sure its set to HDTV/DVD.

7. My TV has 3 DDFC Mode settings: 540P (progressive), 1080I (Auto),

1080I (Interlace). I have made sure this is set to 1080I (Interlace). I

have tried all of them though.

8. I just had Time warner come out today. The guy the sent was a total

nimrod. He actually said "I am not sure you have so many cables back

there". I only have S-Video and Composite from the cable box to the TV.

He also glossed over when I mentioned 1080i, obviously not knowing what I

am talking about.

So please can anyone help? Are there professionals one could call to

help? The TV techs and the cable techs are of no help.

Thank you in advance,

Jacob Champlin

Yes I did. I had to keep the power off and then call a number. In like 5 min the time showed up on the unit and I was able to power on. Also I can watch Standard Definition TV through the S-Video cable. My problem is only when I try to get HDTV through the component cable.

Just a thought, maybe the S-video and Component dont work simultanously.

Do you have this hooked through a receiver? Maybe the receiver is favoring the S-video adapter and that is why it is blank when you try HD.

Have you tried hookiung it up directly just to test it?

Just a guess,

Reed
