Hi,

I have two wharfedale self-amplified speakers and have been working great for about 3 years now. Yesterday, one of the speakers started making a crackling noise as soon as I switch it on.

The other speaker still works great. I noticed that the crackling is not related with the rear volume controls or inputs since it occurs even if nothing is connected to the speaker and the volume potentiometers are on low. As soon as I switch it on, the crackling is not very frequent and quite low volume, then after a few seconds, the crackling becomes more frequent and very high volume.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Could be many things...

Volume pot is dirty (easy to clean)

Amp is dying (simple fix...by replacing)

Driver voice coil is fried (very simple replacement)

The question is...is any of that still under warranty?
