I've got some serious lockup issues inside Zoomplayer that I believe can be attributed to my mdp-100 card. What is occuring is when I try to play a DVD in ZP, within 20 minutes or so, the computer completely locks up...totally unresponsive.

I first thought that my AGP Radeon 64MB VIVO was getting too hot during playback due to the close proximity of it to my myHD card. So, I moved the myHD card down a slot, giving the Radeon enough breathing room. I still got the lockups. I still thought that it was a cooling issue, so I installed 3 80mm fans in my case. I still got the same problem.

Last night I decided to completely pull the myHD card out of the computer, disconnect all the fans and tried to play a DVD that I knew locked up before. Flawless performance!

So, this is why I think that my problems are in some way or another related to the myHD card. What exactly is causing the problem is a mystery to me. I will say that I can watch HD all day long and never have a single problem. I'm using the included dongle to loop from the myHD to the Radeon and then out to the projector. Here's my equipment list:

Asus A7V-M mobo

128MB PC133 RAM

Maxtor 40GB HDD

AMD Duron 900MHz Processor

Thermaltake 6Cu+ CPU Fan

Win2K SP3

ATI Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO (5-13-01 drivers)

myHD mdp-100 (1.61 drivers)

Generic DVD-ROM (not sure of manu.)

Zoomplayer software (Cineplayer 1.5 video, WinDVD audio, ffdshow)

I have downloaded the latest 4-in-1 drivers for the Via chipset along with the 1.62 beta for myHD. Anyone have a suggestion on which drivers I should use for my Radeon? I know that the ones I am using are way out of date.

OK, I did some updating last night in hopes that this would fix my problem. I updated the Radeon drivers to Omega's 2478 drivers, updated myHD to 1.62 and installed the 4.37 Via 4-in-1 drivers. I verified that the DVD would play past the normal lockup section without the myHD card installed. I then installed the card and played the same DVD. Almost instantly the computer locked up on me.

Just a shot in the dark, but could this possibly be related to a weak power supply? I have a Duro (read cheap!) 400W AMD-Approved PSU, which under normal circumstances should be plenty of power. But, the reason why I pose this question is because as I was adding my 3 new 80mm case fans to aide in my perceived cooling problem, the computer would react in the exact same manner as it does with the myHD card installed. I found out that I could only run 1 of my fans on my current power supply (without the myHD card installed).

Could this be possible? Does the myHD card use that much power? Could the combination of the power draw from the myHD card and my video card processing the image during playback along with CPU power consumption be too much for my PSU?
