Right now I’m in the process of upgrading my computer for use with an HDTV (primarily for watching DVD’s with the aid of FFDshow). It would really help if I knew what other people are running and what they are able to do with it. If ya’ll could help, that’d be great!

As u don't mention your system specs it's hopeless for people to give u advise. Anyway, there are lots of different approaches to this, and no final truth.
