Processor for PN50A550;PN50A650;TH-50PZ80U;TH-50PZ85U

Ok i am on the fence between these 4 models as of right now:

what i have heard so far is that the samsung has better color and the panny has deeper blacks

I also heard the samsung PN50A550 is an 18bit processor

Also i heard a new LG (off topic somewhat) has a 30 bit processor

Can anyone verify the rest of these models and correct me if i am wrong on the first two please

AND WHERE DO U FIND THIS INFORMATION

personally i think it is an important spec and should be shown to consumers rather than hidden and having to google it 95 times to find it

any help would be greatly appreciated thx

There's no meaningful difference between 18 bit and 30 bit. One may be better than the other but the bits have nothing to do with it.

As I understand it, 10 bit is better than 8 bit but beyond that the bits aren't important. You just dont want rounding errors.

Well Ultimate AV tested and rated the processor on a PN50A550 as excellent. I would have to beleive the 650 is at least as good.

Here are the main differences that I found:

pn50A550 and A650 both have 30,000:1 static contrast, FPT5084 has 15,000:1. FPT has 5W more per speaker

-650 and FPT both have Ultra filterbright but still below average in reflection prevention.

-Same sound, same viewing angle

-The 650 has an infolink, that the others do not. (double check on this)

-FPT is the only plasma of the 3 that has an s-video in the back. All have them on the side

-650 has 3 HDMI inputs in the rear, 550 and FPT have 2 HDMIs.

-550 and 650 have HDMI ver 1.3.

-weights: 550 (91.1 lbs) 650 (95.9 lbs) FPT5084 (106.9 lbs)

-550 has DNIe +, 650 has DNIe PRO, and FTP has DNIe. This doesn't matter since you should turn this off to get minimal blur and accurate color.

What it comes down too, is do you to have somewhat less glare on your red tinted plasma and better sound with the same PQ?
