Dear audio/digital content gurus:

I'm wondering if there is a product similar to Sonos that will allow me to send music from Napster to 3 different rooms/zones.

I like Sonos, but it is expensive and I don't need the wireless capability. I just want to be able to play different songs from Napster in 3 different rooms at the same time.

If there's a way to do this by integrating a couple of products together, I'm open to that too.

Thanks!

Logitech Squeezebox.

It's a less expensive solution, but seems to be MUCH more finicky about proper setup. If you're technically savvy or comfortable with potentially a lot of tweaking/installing/rinsing/repeating then it is a good option - otherwise Sonos is the best choice right now.

But the Logitech Duet system doesn't amplify the audio, does it? It looks similar to the Sonos Zoneplayer 90. Is there anything similar to the Zoneplayer 120?

I have in-ceiling speakers in place... Would I need a 3-zone amp/receiver or 3 different stereo receivers to have independant control?

Sonos is the only option that isn't more expensive (Crestron/Niles etc...) I know of short of you adding the amplification with a squeezebox or similar as you mentioned.

I will say that yes the sonos is expensive but it works FANTASTIC!!! I use 2 ZP90's (Home Theater/Mbedroom) and 1 ZP120 powering in wall speakers in my office. It's the coolest thing I've bought in 34yrs in the A/V hobby and worth every penny for me. All of my music at full CD quality in the palm of my hand or from a PC/Laptop anytime anywhere in the house.
