I own a Hughes E86 reciever and get all the broadcasting of the OTA DTV signals. The problem is that not all the stations include the programming guide information.

I called Hughes technical support and they told me that DirectTV provides the programming guide info. I called DirectTV and they say the local stations provide the information to them.

Some of the DTV stations have sub stations. For example, NBC here in Salt Lake City, UT has station 5-1 and 5-2. They broadcast the same content over the air but 5-1 is in SD format and 5-2 is in HD format.

5-1 includes the programming guide information but 5-2 only says 'regular schedule'

Since I use a filtered guide I only include the HD stations for local but can't see what is on without referring to the other station that includes the programming guide.

The question is who do I need to contact so DirectTV can send the proper programming guide info for all OTA DTV stations?

Thanks!

I own the Mits HD500 which is pretty much the same box. I had the same problem as well, but I found that the guide for local channels sometimes took a while to be updated, especially if you just added them.

My advice is to turn on all of the channels you want included in your guide and leave it overnight. I did this and they all appeared and all of the program descriptions appeared the following day.

You probably already have done this, but also make sure your zip code is entered in the settings.

My local (Duluth) NBC OTA HD channels (6.1 HD and 6.9 SD) display "Regular Schedule", but my OTA analog channels do have a guide.

So, where does the program guide come from? Is it part of the signal? Does it come via DirecTv? That doesn't make sense since these units can work stand-alone with D*. Does OTA HD it come via modem at night?

The Duluth channel I talked to said the Program Guide worked on their Sanyo/Samsung (whatever they are using) STB, so I am confused.

Any help would be appreciated.

The E86 guide comes from DirecTV. Some boxes can read PSIP info from the locals but the Hughes boxes cannot. If used without a dish they just say "regular schedule" for everything. It's been reported in this forum that Zap2it.com provides the programming database to D*.

After you change your settings, try unplugging the E86 for a couple of minutes and then plugging it back in and waiting for the data to update. I seem to have to do this "reboot" about every 2 months or so when my guide starts telling me "no information available" for every channel. I've also found this "cure" fixes a lot of other annoying glitches with the E86.

I am told that my Mitsubishi SR-HD5 is a Hughes E86 clone and it does read PSIP program guide info on local DTV stations that send it, like my station. If a station sends no PSIP program info then it just says "Regular Schedule."
