So, I need to get a gameplan together for how to build my system up.
My setup at the moment is a Denon AVR-1910 reciever. Pioneer S-H252B-K (cheap bookshelves) in the front, and a Polk PSW10 sub for a 2.1 setup.
Up until the Denon receiver my stereo purchases had been random, cheap and used. I want to build my system out to something respectable, but will need to stage things out, as I'm young and don't have the coin to drop and get the system all at once. I know people will rail on my sub, but I feel like its going to be the last thing replaced, because it works well enough, so I'd rather not focus on it for now.
I started reading this forum with the intentions of finding a good set of surrounds, because I'm really ready to step into good surround sound. I also had a center channel on the docket, but I haven't figured out where I'm going to put it exactly.
The problem is that I don't know if its worth buying a nice set of surrounds and center, if my front speakers are lacking. My intended progression was center/2surrounds > fronts > other 2 surrounds > sub.
So, how would you progress (btw my mix of HT:music is about 90:10, but may grow if I have a nice setup)? If I was willing to spend $600, possibly up to $1000 in the next couple of months for the first round, would you go with a decent pair of fronts or surrounds and a center? I will probably wait until the end of the year at the earliest to buy my 2nd round of speakers. I'm kind of torn between my original ambitions of stepping into 5.1, and now after reading the forums, just getting a pair of nice fronts.
