soonerman73,
The Philips Q50 will be shipping sometime in October. It uses the Sage / Faroudja de-interlacing chip.
I have been following this player very closely & and plan on getting it myself when it becomes available. I have an engineer friend at Philips who keeps me up to speed.
According to the latest review at:
http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volum...-2-8-2001.html
The Philips Q50 did extremely well. The "chroma bug" problem they are talking about in the review for the "analog outputs" has been removed, according to the engineer I talk to at Philips. Apparently, Philips was so eager to get this player reviewed they sent an engineering sample with "some problems".
From what I have been told a "fixed" or firmware updated model will be "resent" for a "re-review" sometime in the near future. You think they would have learned from Denon's mistakes...DUH!
So by the time this piece ships in October, it should be the best player available for the money.
According to Philips, MSRP is going to be $499.
Hope this helps.
