I know this topic has been address already but the results seem to be scattered.

I just bought the Panasonic AE100 projector. I do not have a progressive scan dvd player. What would be a good match for my projector? I would like to keep it to under $250. I don't care about DVD audio or MP3 for that matter. I just want a nice picture.

A side question: In order to use a progressive scan DVD player do you need component cables? Or will S-video work? I figure both will work but what is the difference?

Thanks for your help!

For Progressive Scan, you have to use Component Cables. It will not work with S-Video. I personally use the Toshiba SD-4700. It does quite well with Progressive Scan, also does DVD-Audio, which you don't need but would maybe be useful in the future, and costs aroud $200.00 to $220.00.

If you don't need DVD-Audio, a good choice might also be the Toshiba 3750, which is about $190 at Best Buy. I believe it is basically the SD-4700 but without the DVD-Audio.
