Project Gotham Racing 1

556 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  NoThru22
I set-up our new Xbox 360 today, and while the kids enjoy the new games and don't care too much about the old ones, Project Gotham Racing 1, one of my favorite games, is not supported by the new console. I believe this is a Microsoft game, and I know there is a newer version, however, there is something about the original; does anyone know of any plans to include support for this in future releases?

Thanks

Same here.. the original PGR was the best racing game I've ever played..

Hours a day, every day.. and all day on weekends..
Thought it was just me...yeah there is something about pgr 1 that I like better than there others (though I haven't played part 3 yet.

The cars seemed rendered better than the ones in part 2...to me driving the 360 ferrari in part 1 was waaay more enjoyable than driving that same car in part 2. And then killer part about it is..PGR 1 crashes on the xbox version I currently have....

Plus the free roam feature...man I drove for hours not even racing just taking everything in...is free roam in part 3?

There is free roam in PGR3, but you HAVE to pause the game and use PhotoMode. And again, you are confined to the boundaries of the track. This is different from just cruising around the track, as in photomode, you have free control of the camera, and you can snap pictures of the scenery, too !! It'd have been better to allow free-roam without any limitations.

The difference between PGR1 and PGR2 cars is the same as that between PGR2 and GT4. I mean, PGR1 and GT4 faked a lot of the details on the cars, but PGR2 tried to do real-time refelctions and dynamic shadows, which screwed up the visuals in some parts of the game. PGR2's cars behaved more sim-like compared to PGR1, and some people might like it that way.

I love PGR2 and 3 and recently bought 1 and was shocked how primitive it was compared to 2. If there is as much of a graphical leap between 3 and 4 as there was between 1 and 2, then Gran Tourismo 5 will have nothing!
