Hi all,

I've never owned a projector, but I want to buy one for the sitting room. The only issue I have with them really is how loud they usually are. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with opening them up and dropping in a quieter fan/ better cooling system.. Or if there are decent HD quiet ones which I'm not aware of ..

Fan noise is usually only an issue with the smaller, entry-level units. Smaller intake/exhaust portals require smaller, busier fans.

Going from, say, a BenQ W1070 to a Sony HW40ES will drop the fan noise significantly.

If noise is of concern, then get the Sony HW40ES for sure. It's a fairly bright model and is one of the quietest on the market.

The epson 8345 its awesome. No noise at all...
