I am currently looking at the purchase of a Projector. I will be using it for watching TV, DVD and eventually HDTV.

After reviewing a number of projector specs many say they support 480P and 1080i. From what I understand 480P is fine for DVD. But after reading several posts on this site it looks as if SVGA may not natively support 1080i.

So as I understand it if you have an XGA projector the projector has to scale for a DVD image, and if you have a SVGA projector it has to scale for the HDTV image. If this is true then is there not a comprismise going one way or the other.

If you can help clarify this I would be most thankful.

If you want to view HDTV - Definetly go the XGA route. A HD feed scaled on a SVGA proj. would loose so much compared to the XGA model. However - for DVD - the SVGA proj. would do OK assuming good contrast, lumens, etc.
