I have a Toshiba Mt 8 and Stewart firehawk and despite using black outs to make the room pitch black, the amount of light the projector produces makes the picture overly bright and turns blacks to greys - is there any way to combat this? My projector has been calibrated and so the picture brightness/contrast settings are "correct"

Would painting the wall around the screen a black colour help? Would painting the ceiling black (its ceiling mounted) help avoid the light deflection?

Regards to all

Although I don't use it myself, I think one solution to your situation may be to use bias lighting around/behind your screen. I've seen threads on this before and it does have successful results.

Try doing a search within these forums on "bias lighting". Use the option for slow or slowest search to maximize your hits.
