Hey Guys,


Trying to find a solution and thought to come here first.


I have large office. One of the rooms we have a setup and the projector is shaking do to the air conditioning and the People walking upstairs.


Is there a mount or any ideas to stop the projector from shaking.


If I am missing something let me know and I will answer it as best I can.

Being an office, is it a drop ceiling? And how is the mount done? Is it to the support above?

it is a drop ceiling and mounted to very sturdy 2 by 4's.


We tested the room and the whole room shakes. We did the Jurassic park Test with a cup of water. When the air conditioning come on the shaking is worse, When off it is slightly there.

Try another approach...float it. I would bet being a business PJ, it is not large. Instead of mounting it rigidly, which allows the vibrations to travel all around and into the mount, try floating it onto the drop ceiling only (not the tile, but more the grid). Now while it sounds like the building itself has issues, that may help enough...

Any option for a wall mount? I anticipated that problem and avoided it in my HT by doing a back wall shelf mount. I even moved my 2 rear channel speakers to ceiling brackets positioned behind the listening area. Nothing on the back wall except the pj.

Yes that is also a good option normally. Though his followup says the whole room shakes, not just the ceiling. So I think any mounting point will probably have similar issue, if the vibrations are not isolated as much as possible...

Well, it looks like a weight issue with this business projector. Since the lens is a short throw and not the standard it add more weight to the front causing it to shake more

If it is from people walking upstairs the solution is to tie several of the ceiling joist together with plywood. and then mount the projector to the plywood. We see this all the time in homes. Isolation mounts won't work. A wall mount usually works as well. You need to stiffen the ceiling.

You need to work on the problem, rather than Try to band aid a solution for the projector. The HVAC equipment should be mounted on vibration isolators. It could also be a balance issue with the motor and fan, which is pretty easy to correct. This vibration is not good for the HVAC equipment and it can cause florescent lights to fail early. My guess would be balance of the fan and motor.
