So we have an older model Liesegang projector (DLP 2500 lumens, 1500:1 contrast) that needs replacement due to a lack of image visibility. The room has a fair amount of natural light that cannot be blocked out and this projector struggles to present a bright enough image / strong enough contrast for presentations in a large gallery/hall setting. We're basically only showing powerpoint style presentations and already have a fair amount put into the setup/motorized screen/etc so if possible, we'd like to keep that intact. It's a 4:3 ratio motorized screen that matches the current 1024x768 projector resolution. We're feeding the projector via DVI from a laptop.

Essentially I'd like to find a model that will handle the existing workload but with a much stronger / more visible image being projected. If we have to replace the screen, so be it, but it will eat into our budget which tops out at an absolute max of $3000 (preferably closer to 2 or 2.5K), all in including mounts, screen (if need be), etc. Any/all suggestions or advice are sincerely appreciated. No gaming of any kind will be done on this unit, fyi. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

No one has first hand experience with XGA projectors in an environment like this? (large hall setting) I've read lots of reviews on several projectors but any first hand experience is always appreciated.
