Hi,


I am aiming for a flush ceiling installation of my PJ. On the Chief website it shows the RPAU's height as 44mm. It then says you need the supplied universal bracket to fit to the inverted projector. Does anyone know how much more this bracket adds to the height of the installation ?


The RPA-186 custom mount's total height is 44 + 19 mm= 63mm.

Various factors come into play. The SLBU is only about 1" deep, but it is adjustable and often you have to adjust it to make it work with certain projectors.


Regardless, it is still the most flush universal made.

I don't know if I did it wrong the first time but I just mounted my chief directly to the ceiling. I recently went with an HP screen though and had to purchase a ceiling plate and an extension to lower the projector. Seemed to work fine as is before hand though.

You mentioned the RPA-186. Is that the custom mount for your projector? If so, that's all you need.

Why is everyone so big on the Chiefs? They look pretty flimsy and seem expensive to me.


I've seen some that look sturdier and are pretty flush, although I don't know the brands.

They aren't flimsy, and you get what you pay for. I have a SIM2 Lumis Host hanging from a RPA-U. Chief makes a great mount.

What other (sturdy, universal) brands are there? I need it to hold the PJ as close to the ceiling as possible.
