Proper receiver to power Axioms?

336 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Nuance
Ready to upgrade HTIB to component. I really like the Axiom Epic 50-350 speaker package but was wondering what receiver to use to power them. I've researched the Denon 3806 and the Onkyo TSXR803. HDMI 1.1 shouldnt be a problem as I understand when HDMI 1.3 becomes available because all the decoding will be done in the player correct? Any suggestions or corrections would be appreciated.

The speakers are rated at 8 ohms, but rarely does impedance stay at what it is advertised to be. Generally it dips, sometimes into the 4 ohm region for a little while. I don’t know where the graphs for the M50v2’s can be found (if there are any), but it would be best to check the impedance to know for sure. However, a Denon 3806 should be fine since it is rated for 8, 6, and 4 ohms.
