I've searched and found this discussed but have not found anything close to a definitive answer (forgive me if I've missed something)...
I have a HTPC setup consisting of an Infocus IN72 PJ, an Onkyo HT Receiver with HDMI passthrough, and a Vista PC with an ATI HD 2600XT video card. (Also ATI 650 TV capture card. but I don't know if that's relevant).
I want to know what resolution I should be running between the ATI video card and the IN72 PJ. I'm currently running at 1280x720, which seems to work OK for both movies and using Windows. I see people saying I should use the IN72's native res of 854x480, but (A) in ATI's Catalyst Control Center I can't select that resolution, and (B) when I choose 848x480, the windows screen is so low resolution that a if I open the clock it fills up more than half the page - very hard to use the computer for anything other than video or maybe a single browser window.
I'd like to use the native res of 854x480 if it's going to give me better video quality, but not if it makes working with the HTPC as a Windows computer unworkable...
thanks for any advice...
