I have adding a couple TVs in my house, and I was wondering if I needed anything more than a 6-way splitter for my cable TV? Someone told me I should get a signal amplifier, but my longest run is only around 50'.

Currently, I have a 3-Way splitter and only of those lines is split again into two lines. One of my TVs is having poor reception. Maybe I need a line filter?

Any suggestions about specific brands and models would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Ideally, you should get a 1 to 8 distribution amp. The poor reception (probably after your 2nd splitter, right ?) is being caused by too little signal. The 8 way distribution amp would at the very least not decrease the signal coming in (it should actually make up or perhaps improve upon the losses you're inducing).

Two-way splitters cut the signal by 3.5dB.

Three-way cut 3.5 on one 7 on the other two.

four way cut all by 7 dB.

So you potentially have dropped the signal by 10.5 dB on two of the runs.

Do the distribution amp as Scooper says.
