Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone could help me out here:

I recently bought the Sharp LC-32G4U and intend to do a lot of PS2 gaming on it; however, I noticed that even with component cables, I can sometimes see "pixelations" on the edges of objects. I've been playing my GT3 quite a bit and notice that the background imagery (trees, crowds) have this annoying 'feature'. Is this what I should expect from gaming on LCDs, or am I missing something? One of the nice things is that I don't see any 'ghost' trails on moving objects, but the pixelated edges are enough to put me off some games! Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hello Amir,

thanks for the reply! I had an old SONY CRT before purchasing the Sharp LCD, and those 'jagged edges' were never a problem. Then again, I've never had any issues with playing PS2 games on the Sony CRT. Is the PS2 video image on the LCD supposed to be as good as the regular CRTs? The images are not so bad that I can't play my games, but I guess I was expecting a little more! Thanks!

I know people will disagree with me but I still say after seeing it time and time again that the resolution on the Aquos LCD's is too high to display a 480 (progressive or otherwise) signal beautifully.

I play PS2 games all the time on my friends 37G4U, and if I'm less than 7 feet away, I can easily see pixelization. You can readilly duplicate the scaling in any graphics application. Sure it's not an exact science, but take an image at 640x480 pixels and resize it to 1366x768. View it at 100%, and you'll see pixelization.

Hello LiquidCrystal,

thanks for the input...are you saying that this is what I should expect from here on out with regards to the video from PS2 games? Thanks!

As an avid gamer I can tell you the problem is the PS2, and it's not a problem you can fix. The PS2 has the worst anti-aliasing abilities of any of the current generation consoles, which is to say it does the worst job at smoothing the edges of textures and polygons, making them look jagged. The GameCube or Xbox games should look better, but as LiquidCrystal pointed out, games designed for 640x480 aren't going to look great regardless.
