Hi,

I have a PS2 (one of the original ones) and I am trying to find out what it is compatible with in regards to DVD's. I have heard some say that it can play DVD-R and DVD-RW even DVD+R and DVD+RW

I would like to know what can it really play. I recently purchased Star Wars 2 and I put it in my PS2 to play the movie since my other dvd player was being used. And to my surprise I got nothing. It kept clicking and whirring trying to read and then at the end of waiting for almost 3-4 minutes I got READ ERROR. Can the PS2 play the Star Wars 2 DVD??? I have successfully played another dvd movie in the PS2 at an earlier time so I am pretty confused. Any light shed on this would be helpful.

The ps2 is about the worst dvd player made. I have a ton of movies that are incompatible and starwars eps2 is one of them. These nothing you can do except get a standalone dvd player. Check VCDhelp.com for help finding a cheap one that will play burned media.
