With a $20 difference in price, is there a difference? What should I get?

I have the Sony brand component cables and they give you a brighter and sharper picture than composite. I didn't buy the Monster brand since I've read that they don't give you much more for the extra money. I believe most people will just say, "Get the Sony", as they do their job and you save a few bucks. I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for, but in this case the extra money doesn't give you a significant advantage over the Sony brand cables.

heh, i just got the $9.99 Madcatz ones. I havnt used them yet, but im guessing since the PS2 graphics arnt that great in the first place getting high quality cables isnt going to make a HUGE difference.
I have the Monster, but I got them at a great price. They're long. And they give me warm fuzzies. But that's about it.
The Sony cables will do just as well as the Monster cables, but I bought the Monster's because they are 10ft long which I needed to run from my receiver to the other side of my entertainment center. If I had not needed the extra length, I would have went with the Sony cables, I really hate buying anything Monster.
I have the monster ones going from a japanese ps2 with the sony ones from my domestic ps2. i can't tell the difference in picture quality, but maybe that's just me. i also got the early versions of the monster cables and they don't have analog audio cables which could be a pain. i'd save your money and get the sony ones if you can find them. i've had a hard time locating them in the past...

I actually prefer the older Monster cable without audio cables, that's what I use. I don't need the analog audio cables since I use a toslink cable for audio.
i have both and dont see any difference...i have two ps2's hooked up(through the pellican selector..not sure if that makes a difference then hooking them up directly to the tv).... most ps2 games dont even support progressive scan.....if you ask me s-video looks better for non progressive scan games....

I think the big thing that is going to be driving the sales of these is GT4.
If you want the Monster kit that features Component Video and ONLY Toslink optical...Then you want the following set:

GameLinkâ„¢ 450 Component Video & Fiber Optic Audio A/V Kit

It retails for $69.95 and is available online at a few different retailers.

http://www.monstercable.com/monstergame/ps2/

No analog audio connections.

That being said, I have the Sony Component Video connectors.

But why would I pay more money for Monster's optical cable when I can get any decent optical cable for half the price.
