I just downloaded the 1.8 firmware for the PS3 and while going through all the new settings choices came across a new one (I think) under Music Settings. It is called

"Bitmapping (Super Audio CD)". The choices are Off and Type 1. What does this mean? I cannot test it right now since I don't have a HDMI capable receiver yet. Will Type 1 send DSD out through the HDMI port? Curious. Can anyone with a HDMI 1.2 or greater receiver such as the Yamaha RX-V1700/2700 or even the Pioneer Elite 82/84 check this out.

This topic is relevant to receivers since many people with PS3 and HDMI 1.2 capable receivers were only utilizing PCM for SACD audio since that is what the PS3 put out. If it can now put out DSD, then it will make it unique since most players out there don't do it through HDMI (yet).
