PS3 doesn't recognize Planet Earth in our area?

I live in Cairo/ Egypt... I recently purchased Planet Earth Blu ray movie from USA (after making sure its all region) and took it together with a BD RE that I composed on my home computer using material from my HVR A1 sony camcorder... both movies play fine on my computer... I took them both to the local sony store to test the PS3 with them... it kept showing that the disc have been removed and refused to recognize any of them.... I know the salesman was connecting the PS3 using composite out however it should have recognized the discs and then demonstrate that it can't be viewed on that monitor or something but the fact that it didn't even recognize them makes me wonder if sony have disabled blu ray movie playback on the PS3 in our area of the world?? any similar experiences? could that be fixed by a firmware upgrade?

The PS3 displays a specific error if the disc is the wrong region code (see attached photo)

Egypt is in region B as is Europe. Planet Earth works well with region B PS3.

So what happens when a copy protected disc is placed in the ps3 while connected to the TV using composite or component???
