OK, I'm still trying to get my head around all of this....can someone correct me if I'm wrong?
I have a PS3 and an Onkyo TX-SR674 (level 4 receiver) connected via HDMI.
For Resistance FOM, is the 7.1 sound already discrete in the game? or does the PS3 have to decode it? Being that my TX-SR674 is only HDMI 1.1, I'm confused on what it will and won't do.
HDMI can move 8 discrete paths of audio. So, for RFOM, does the PS3 send the 7.1 audio over those 8 channels on the HDMI? I know my TX-SR674 can't DECODE anything 7.1...but for PS3 games that do and will have 7.1 sound...is there processing involved?
Also, if the player can decode the 7.1 on Blu-rays...it can send the discrete audio over the 1.1 HDMI, right?
Now, what 7.1 formats (if any) can the PS3 decode?
Thanks for any clerification,
