I am now worried to death that my tv will have issues with the PS3. Even though Sony demo'ed the PS3 with the tv that I have, it still means nothing to me until real people post up real info. If you have your PS3 hooked up via HDMI please post your results here. I am looking for a Sony xbr2 (46 inch version if that matters at all) that has tried this. Thanks for any info guys and gals.

Sony

xbr2 60 inches-Displays image fine when it is available but losses image randomly. Blackouts happen and then the image reappears.

xbr2 46 inch-No issues at all, syncs right up.

xbr1 50 inch-only displays at 720p (this could be because this set doesnt support 1080p, more research neeed)

xrd 60 and 50 inches-Randomly loses signal like the 60" Sony xbr2

Samsung

BD-P1000-steady flickering image

other display "sparkly" noise images with 1080p resolution but seems fine with 720p.

4696D-reports no signal found via hdmi sometimes and other times it works great.

HL-S5087W-no issues with hmdi

Panasonic

TH42PX500-Randomly loses signal like the 60" Sony xbr2

Westinghouse

LVM-47w1-Randomly loses signal like the 60" Sony xbr2

42w2-flashing screen and signal loss but works fine via hmdi-dvi

37w3-flashing screen and no signal, turn off the tv and turn it back on and it seems to work.

JVC

JVC HD-61FN97-seems to work fine with everything except 480p via hdmi

well i'll tell you right now. i have the xbr1 50 inch. i got that because i was told by both sony and best buy that when the ps3 did come out. I would have no problem via hdmi acquiring 1080p resolution. well as of right now the highest i can achieve is 720p.

This is very frustrating. I'm going to bb later to demand i get a tv that will do 1080p via hdmi

I have Sony XBR2 60 connected through HDMI. I can achieve maximum 1080P resolution.

The probllem I'm having is that periodically the input goes black, akin to when there is no video source for that video input.

It does this for about 2 to 5 minutes, then the screen will come back to where it was. This has happened at the XMB and while creating an online account. Moving the controller button or such has not helped.

I'm not sure what the reasons are as yet. But it is annoying.

Your display never was supposed to recieve 1080P. I have the 60" model and although it is native 1080P, it can only recieve 480I, 480P, 720P and 1080I. When did u buy the display.

That is horrible news. We have the same tv but in different sizes (I have 46). Thanks for the post.

I have a Mitsubishi WD-Y57 (Similar to the 57732), and it displays 1080p fine through HDMI. I am having audio issues, however, but I am not sure whether it is a problem with HDMI, the PS3, or the TV. I have it set up for the PS3 to send the audio out to the TV via HDMI, and the TV has Digital Coax out to our 7.1 Onkyo receiver. When the PS3 is set to 5.1 or 7.1 the Onkyo flashes to dolby during menus, but when the movie/game starts it switches to stereo, and we only get the left/right channels of the surround (music only, no center means no voices.) The fact that the Onkyo switches at all to Dolby is leaning me toward it being a problem with the PS3, but I don't have any other HDMI devices in that room that put out audio through HDMI so I don't know for sure. I am out of optical inputs on my Onkyo, so right now I have the PS3 set to stereo, I hope that there is a fix for this, because running stereo out of this system is a disservice to my setup.

Ok here we go...picked up my PS3 this morning from gamestop. I too was worried about my CRT RPTV (about 3 yrs old), cuz it was native 1080i, but it does have an internal scaler and DVI/HDCP. Hooked up through DVI, PS3 recognized my max res at 720p, so Resistance and NHL worked fine for the brief period i played it. So i am relieved i guess. BTW my tv is Toshiba 46HX83 Cinema Series. Looks like im lucky i guess.

I have successfully tested the following setups :

1. PS3 connected via HDMI to Anthem AVM-50 pre-amp. TV connected to pre-amp via HDMI-DVI to Hitachi 65SWX20B

Resolutions successfully tested : 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p

Resolutions not supported : 480i over HDMI (PS3 did not give me an option)

Played BD (MI III), SACD, CD, Ipod, DVD-R

2. PS3 connected to Vizio 32" LCD directly via HDMI.

Resolutions successfully tested : 1080i, 720p

Played BD (MI III), DVD-R

3. PS3 connected via Component to Denon AVR-3300. Denon connected to Runco DLP via Component

Resolutions successfully tested : 1080i, 720p

Played BD (MI III)

Gripes : Cannot output audio/video on all outputs at the same time. This is no biggie as I just have to switch settings

Picture quality : This is my first look at BD/HD-DVD and was a bit underwhelmed. I felt NFL/NCAAF/TNT-HD basketball games looked a lot better. Its definitely an improvement over DVD.

Bluetooth : Very impressed. I was able to place the PS3 in my theater room closet and control it wirelessly in the other room thru a wall. I have a 25ft HDMI cable (monoprice) feeding the Vizio.

Games : Waiting for my son to get home from school, not a gamer myself.

Overall impressions : I want a second one. This one is for my son to play games. I was floored with its versatility and will use the second one for music and movies in the family room (when I can land a second one

I have the Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR2 LCD and so far no issues of any kind with PS3 connected via HDMI. Have tried Resistance (720p), Ridge Racer 7 (1080p), and Genji (720p...what can I say...I'm a sucker for giant enemy crabs!). So far, I am a happy camper.

I've got the HP md6580n. I can't get my hdmi to work. My hdmi works with the oppo dvd player, but no luck thus far with the ps3. I think others have had luck, perhaps I have a defective hdmi on the ps3.

I have a Pioneer Elite Pro 520 HD 480p/1080i CRT, with component inputs only.

Call to Duty 3, which states that it supports 1080i, is being passed as 480p 4:3 ratio.

Blu-ray appears to be working fine at 1080i.

I have a Westinghouse 42w2 and mine didn't like the 1080p from PS3 HDMI. I wound up going to Walmart an hour ago and trying a HDMI-DVI adapter which I hooked up to DVI 1 port and the 1080p is working flawlessly at the moment. Tried Resistence, which stays in HD now, which is all the proof I need that 1080P works well now. Also Talladega Nights is working without all the snowy sparkle effects, or whatever the term is.

Now if only I could get my 360 to play nice with my TV at 1080p I'd be a real happy camper
