Hi everyone, I have my ps3 connected to my receiver via optical and cannot seem to get any subwoofer output under the "direct" output setting on my onkyo receiver. When I watch films with stereo tracks or listen to music (also on ps3) I also do not get sub output unless I switch the receiver setting to "stereo" instead of direct.

Please note that the surround worksi just do not have any sub output.

I cannot do a direct comparison with my bd player because my ps3 bd laser is dead. However, my bd player does output to the subwoofer.

Is this a setting on my ps3 causing problems or is it the optical cable? I use optical so I can stream 3d movies (my receiver can't handle 3d input).

First make sure you can get bass from other devices than your ps3, then make sure you can get bass from your ps3 from something other than netflix (a DVD or a game).

You say you can get bass from your BD player, but your BD player is also dead. Can you hook up anything else to see if you can get bass?
