Updated to 2.40 and played games fine until tonight when I put a movie in and now it stopped reading. It just goes to a black screen. The same goes for games and DVD's.


I called EBGames and they tell me that they only sell 40 GB models now. I also was told that they don't credit me for what I paid.



Man I should have got this from Best Buy.

So your PS3 still recognizes that you have a disk in the drive, you click on it to play and nothing happens? Humm, does not sound like the normal PS3 cannot read/reconize a disk error. Maybe your 2.4 update can work in your favor if you raise a stink with Sony.


The 80Gb is still available.

Yeah when I put a disk in it shows what disk it is but when you hit play it just goes to a blank screen.

Well, I did a full format and now it reads Blu-ray movies and games just fine.

yea, I have seen a firmware upgrade mess them up like that.
