PS3 possibly better than 360???

501 Views 15 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  michaeltscott
I do like the live support of the 360 and all of that, the games have been a little blah, but I sat back today and thought of how much I played my original Xbox over my PS2 just for the online. So I will give it a little more time before I bash it again.

I have recently been reading articles of the PS3 with a HD, Blu-Ray, Gigabit ethernet, Bluetooth, and even some stuff on DVR support. That being said it has already been confirmed that the PS3 will have HDMI support. When looking at all of this I think that if it were $500 it could replace alot of equipment that I already have and I will have a next-generation media player.

I guess you could say I am getting excited to see what Nintendo and Sony are going to bring to the table.

OK, so what’s your point?

This board is too mature for immature people like you. You should go talk about this somewhere else.

HD - xbox 360 already does that. You don't need to wait for the PS3 to get that.

Blu-Ray - For all you know Blu-Ray might end up being limited to a PSX-esque uber expensive SKU of PS3. But then, you could always get a PC Blu-Ray drive and plunk it in your PC.

Gigabit Ethernet - connecting to what ?? your 6 Mbps ADSL modem?? What's the advantage over a 100Mbps FastEthernet port? There are no confirmations of PS3's ability of serving as a Media hub by default.

BlueTooth - What is its advantage over normal 900MHz or 2.4GHz wireless, other than a "fancier than thou" appeal??

DVR Support - You already have this with the xbox 360 and a media center PC. If you think the PS3 would have DVR functionality by default at its $500 projected price, you are simply dreaming.

At the end, you are looking at smokes and mirrors. Hopefully, more will be revealed at CES '06 or E3 '06.

Both systems are going to have more power then developers will use for quite some time. Buy the one with the games you like to play. I like the xbox line up so I bought the 360. (and love it) but I also plan on buying the ps3 if they get a decent online service. Later
The online abilities of both the original xbox and the 360, are something that mean alot to me and those I game with. A couple friends have never even touched the single player side of either HALO. If the PS3 does top the 360 graphically, but falls short on the online side I would pick the 360 as the winner based on the way I use the systems. I have enjoyed the upgrades that the 360 has offered so far.

That being said, I hope there isn't really any clear cut winner, and that all three consoles have excellent performance. I think it pushes all the companies to produce better consoles, do so sooner, and at lower price points. Even if you only get one of the systems, you should be happy the others are out there because the competion between them benefits all of us as gamers.

I don't necessarily think Sony will put out a 1080p, DVI/HDMI, Blu-ray, HD, DVR capable system at a decent price point if they are launching this year. Maybe some of that tech will make it in though, and even if you are an xbox fan you should be excited to see what Sony does.

Thats what I was trying to say. I can't wait to see how this all pans out.

What is that? Why post a link of an executable client software?

Don't you think this is a bit of an overreaction? He didn't outright come out and say 'PS3 roxs,360 suks'.Your response is more immature than anything he said....
I wasn't trying to start a war. I know my thoughts of the 360 are because of some bland release titles, just gotta give it more time.

I was just saying that the PS3 may have more overall functionality and I am going to enjoy the new generation of systms.

Im sure I will end up buying both.

How do you like your 360? I returned mine because I was not impressed at all.

??
I would think a PS3 related post should belong in the ps3 forum. I would guess the inappropriate location is related to any overreaction. The X360 is a phenomenal system - and if you don't think so I believe it has been made clear that on these forums we are not to have wars about it. This thread was nothing but an effort to start one such war.

I do wish they would fix that grammatical error though.
I'll be getting both but there's no way the PS3 will be a better system than the 360. It might have slightly better graphics and different exclusives but there's no way they'll come near the quality of the interface and Xbox Live.

I think he's saying forego both and play D&D Online.
This is the type of thread that clogged the old unified forum and got it shut down and some former members banned. Topics just like this went on for hundreds of vitriolic replies. I'm surprised that it hasn't been locked already.

Vasichko, you've only been registered a couple of months and it looks as though your first post in these gaming forums was last week, so you missed all that. Believe me, we'd prefer not to revisit those days--at least I would. So avoid posts which compare platforms and blatantly declare one as being superior to the others. Please :).
