Would you guys say that the PS3 is just as good as any other BLU Ray player out there?

I know it doesnt have all the bells and whistles, but PQ wise?

I think you have it backwards, the PS3 is the one with the bells and whistles including Blu Ray 1.1 compatibility, excellent Blu Ray playback, and a very fast and responsive interface. As an added bonus the firmware of the PS3 is being constantly updated with upgraded features with recent examples being major updates to SD-DVD up-conversion and Blu Ray spec 1.1.

PS3's downsides: an absence of native HD audio bitstream output (via HDMI) and lack of IR remote, although there are aftermarket fixes for an IR remote and the PS3 will internally decode every audio format except DTS-HD Master Audio to PCM for HDMI output.

Check out the sticky PS3 as Blu Ray player thread for the full scoop.
